On The Death of Three Muslims

Posted in notes by Imam Zaid Shakir on 2015-02-11 Thumb

As-Salaam Alaikum,

Our condolences to the families of Deah Barakat, Yusor Abu Salha and her sister Razan, the three young Muslims who were murdered yesterday in North Carolina. May their entrance into Paradise be swift and sure, as is the case for the martyr.

Many are complaining of the lack of media coverage around this event. The sad fact is that the mainstream media that recently brought us “I am Charlie” has no interest in humanizing Muslims.
The deceased were too full of life and positive energy to meet the media-fueled stereotype of the evil, sneaky, not to be trusted Muslim. Why provide free humanizing coverage to the adherents of an evil ideology, hellbent on taking over the country. Their smiles, vitality and genuine concern for others were likely just Taqiyya, self-serving deception.

As for their self-proclaimed atheist killer, Craig Stephen Hicks, there is no way he could be an adherent of an evil ideology. He probably never heard of Sam Harris or Christopher Hitchens or their humanized atheism ilk who openly call for the indiscriminate mass murder of Muslims. He’ll likely be declared insane, perhaps he went to view American Sniper and lost it.

May the deaths of these beautiful young people, and all others who have perished as a result of senseless, inexcusable violence, anywhere, not be in vain. May they motivate us all to do more to stop this insanity, because all of their lives do truly matter.

Three young Muslims were murdered in their Chapel Hill, North Carolina home at approximately 5:15 pm on November 10th. Within twelve hours, the Muslim propaganda machine was in full swing, instrumentalizing the horrific incident with a "#MuslimLivesMatter"campaign, asserting that the establishment media is under-reporting the incident. Within twelve hours, in the early morning on the 11th, editorials with headlines alleging media bigotry appeared in multiple major news organs: http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2015/02/chapel-hill-shooting-western-media-bigotry-150211083909613.html http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/11/chapel-hill-murders_n_6660080.html http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/muslim-family-members-killed-n-man-cops-article-1.2110661 Within fifteen hours, by 7 am EST, cartoons began to appear on social media: pic.twitter.com/qLFzH3TBtF, pic.twitter.com/z4KirTwMBc, pic.twitter.com/QSHCDk4zrZ. By 9 am, the Muslim political pundits and organizers began flooding social media with their crafted response: From as far away as Britain, at 8:18 am EST, Tariq Ramadan tweeted : "THE RIGHT QUESTION : WHY DOESN’T OUR MEDIA VALUE MUSLIM LIVES?" Closer to home, at 8:44 am, Sheila Musaji founding editor of The American Muslim, tweeted: "The media has just ignored an act of terror in the US because the victims were Muslim." Some prominent Muslims adopted a calmer approach: From Washington DC, U.S. Representative Keith Ellison tweeted: "My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those senselessly murdered in Chapel Hill last night #MuslimLivesMatter" From Detroit, Dawud Walid of CAIR tweeted: "Muslim lives do matter, BUT I strongly suggest not using that hashtag in relation to our sisters & brother who were murdered in North Carolina." Meanwhile, most of us --including the media -- were in bed, sleeping, throughout most of the period between when the murders occurred, and when the allegations of media under-reporting began. Throughout the morning, most of us, including reputable news agencies, have been awaiting additional facts from the police, about the killer's identity, history and confession. How ludicrous it is to make allegations of media bias! Beyond the very limited time frame, we must keep in mind that, in the USA, approximately 30 gun-related homicides occur every day of the year. Most of these are never reported in the national press. The incidents that do receive national attention are typically those with political significance. As of noon on 11 February it remained to be seen whether or not the Chapel Hill murders were pre-meditated and politically motivated. But Muslim journalist and political pundits have no vested interest in ultimate outcomesl Instead of making duahs for the families of the victims of the Chapel Hill incident, while waiting for more facts to emerge, many used this as an excuse to promote themselves on social media. As usual, almost all Muslim journalists and political activists have chosen to nurture a victim mentality, seizing this opportunity to allege "islamophobia, " bigotry and to insinuate that in the Evil West, Muslims lives are under-valuedl in The West. The manner in which the propaganda campaigns were crafted and propagated, within a few hours, is almost as sickening as the killings themselves. May the mercy of God envelop Deah, Yusor and Razan, the three young Muslims who were murdered yesterday evening. nobody of a sound mind would ever believe a man like Muhammad who lived the way he did, who married a child who killed hundreds of people, who lioved in adultery (many wives and sex slaves0, who lied, robbed and did so many other atrocities muslims are not allowed to criticize Muhammad but people who are free see it plainly that a man like that is not to be trusted ..especially that he came over 600 years after Jesus already claimed He is God, after Jesus already died on the cross and raised from the dead (crucifiction of Jesus is a historical fact), after Jesus already made miracles and proved His love and power...and Muhammad? both Muhamad nor Allah made no miracles, Allah has no contact with people so he never even proved he exists, all muslims have is words of Muhammad...who destroyed his credibility by his immorality...and his god never manifested himself, never speaks heals and all he has to offer is hell for every soul as we read in koran... just think about it all it is to help you and all muslims Jesus said I am the Way, the Truth and the Life so apart from Jesus there is only deception, death and lies....and Muhammad denied Jesus in all Jesus said...so all Muhammad brought was lies, deception and death...and that is confirmed by what Allah said about himself in the koran itself...he said there 5 times (five times!!!) that he is a deceiver.... but the Bibe God is LOVE and is HOLY so just please see who you follow and trust....

In response to "aiko" I would like to share with this person some verses from the Holy Quran and sayings of our beloved Prophet (pbuh) because unfortunately this person is severely misinformed about my dear faith. 1. Muslims love and revere Prophet Jesus (pbuh): "Behold! The angels said, “O Mary, Allah gives you glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the Hereafter, and (of the company) of those Nearest to Allah.” The Holy Quran 3:45 2. Allah (swt) loves us and will forgive us: (God says) O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it. Narrated by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in Tirmidhi, Ahmad 3. Sacredness of Life: "Say: Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath prohibited you from: Join not anything as equal with Him, be good to your parents, kill not your children for fear of poverty—We provide sustenance for you and for them—come not near to shameful deeds, whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah has made sacred, except by way of justice and law. Thus does He command you, that you may learn wisdom." The Holy Quran 6:151 4. Fight only in Self-Defense: "But if the enemy inclines towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace…" The Holy Quran 8:61 5. Women's Rights: "O People, it is true that you have certain rights over your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under God's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right, then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers." The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as recorded in his Final Sermon

I think everything published made a ton of sense. But, what about this? what if you were to write a killer title? I ain't saying your content is not solid, but what if you added a title that grabbed a person's attention? I mean On The Death of Three Muslims | New Islamic Directions - Imam Zaid Shakir is a little plain. You might look at Yahoo's home page and watch how they write news headlines to grab people to open the links. You might add a video or a related pic or two to grab readers excited about everything've written. In my opinion, it might make your blog a little bit more interesting.
